How I grew up...

I grew up in a small suburb area where I was always in the water swimming because my first house had a pool. Then I moved to another suburb area and continued that life of always being outside and I loved it. I was one of those kids who did everything at one point or another in their childhood. I was enrolled in swimming, then my parents put me in piano, then dance, and that when I started to know that whatever I did in life, I wanted it to be creative and I guess untraditional. I grew up singing in elementary and then high school, and also doing drama and being part of a play in my Grade 12 year. So I definitely was that kid who wanted to try everything which was fun but also confusing.

How I got involved with media...

When I was younger, I remember always being outrageous and outgoing. My dad loved chronicling everything with videos and photos, and let’s just say, I was NOT shy in front of the camera. I loved taking the family camera and playing around with it and filming videos of myself and the things around me, I even got mad when my older brother was in charge of filming a family trip, and I wasn’t. I started taking an interest in photography and even took it in high school. Even before I got a DSLR, I would just snap pictures on my phone of scenic views from field trips or weddings. When asked in the second half of high school what I wanted to pressure in college, I told my teachers I wanted to do something in media, but I wasn’t sure what that meant. I got involved in working on my school newspaper which was more of just an all-around media group and eventually helped work on my yearbook in my last year of high school. My first post-secondary program was the Media Communications diploma program at Humber, where I learned a mixture of photography, videography, writing, graphic design, and web design.
