7. What do you wish for female creatives in the future?

I’d love for more women (and woman-identifying members of our societies) to feel valued, involved, and empowered at their place of work. I wish more women were able to show up as they are without being told to ‘tone down’ their opinions, make them palatable for their leadership, and present themselves only as accommodating diplomatic beings. When we, as a collective, welcome different perspectives to the table, we allow ourselves to grow into a more inclusive, safe, and whole society.

If you find yourself asking how you can incorporate this into your daily practice, there are a few ways you can be an ally. In a team setting, hold space for women to voice their opinions, override interruptions, and welcome clarifying questions - even in an email chain. This helps empower women to share their ideas about leadership and growth for your business. Involve women on higher levels of decision making; it’s less about gender diversity and more about diversity in perspective to safeguard your business against potential setbacks ahead. Create a safe environment to have women discuss their salaries, and connected feelings of self-worth openly with other women and men. This can alleviate the impostor syndrome and help us make progress towards lowering - if not breaking - the glass ceiling. And lastly, allow women to speak as freely as men so that no ideas are lost in the niceties of formal communication.

In this final interview, I talk with Natasha and Harshneet about the world of design, creativity, and collaborating!
