What Projects I’m most proud of...

I have not had much field experience yet, however, I am proud of the little accomplishments I made throughout my educational career. For starters, working on my high school yearbook was fun. The feeling of getting to be a part of the process of laying out a book that my whole school was going to get to experience for years was empowering and cool. I felt proud anytime I got to photograph any school event because that meant I was in control. I worked on a few portfolios in my diploma program, that was built from various photography and design assignments, that I still have and will be able to update with new work that I have. I felt proud when I worked as a marketing consultant for an organization that specialized in helping children with disabilities. I got to structure powerpoints while also designing an informative brochure and use my design skills. That was special to me because I was not only given creative control, but I was part of designing something for an important cause.

My proudest achievement so far, is “It’s Her Vision”. This is my first project where I had complete creative control and really got to just conceptualize every idea. From the written interviews to the recorded conversations, and photos, it all ties in and tells the story the way that I wanted it.

What one thing people should know about me is…

I was not like other kids growing up. I didn’t have a tone of friends, and I was the one who spent recess alone just observing everything and everyone. I was so energetic and wanted to involve myself in everything recreational-wise, (swimming, dance, piano). I started to realize then that if I was the one on the sidelines growing up, that I wanted to do something that made me feel powerful and in control, even though I wasn’t sure what career that might have been. It was hard for me to become established like everyone else, even first coming to High school, I saw everyone form their little groups and have their own “things” that they were into, and for most of my life, I was just trying out new things. I discovered different creative outlets at a pretty young age like dance and writing, which ultimately led me to media as just another form of expressing myself where there are NO rules. I learned a lot through my education and especially making this project that I love making creative decisions and taking that control that I never really got when I was younger.

I’m glad I was able to share a bit about me, the creator, and any form of creativity is a chance to show people who I am!
