5. Explain what types of projects you work on?
I have a portfolio where I have shared my work. As a personal project, I created an app that allowed students, especially international students, to help their way into college. It helps them to interact with other students and participate in activities hosted by their respective schools. Then I participated in a hackathon, where I and two other students created a banking apple watch app, that is mostly used by young individuals to better finance their earnings.
After I worked on some personal projects, I took a freelance project that helped a small photography business build their brand online through their website, business cards, and event banners. Now I’m enrolled in an internship, which is for a startup. They are a career counseling company and I’m working on their online platform.
6. What were your thoughts on women in the media creative industry?
Since I’ve joined this industry, I have actually seen very strong women around me. Most of my mentors have been women. The way they look into the design is quite detail orientated. I have definitely seen women put in a lot of work, but I won’t hesitate from saying that from the talks I have had with other women around me, they are not paid for the amount of work they put in during and after work. The role of women in design has always been underrepresented. I believe it's gradually growing and getting there, at the end of the day a person's work speaks for themselves. There are a lot of strong women in the media creative industry that don’t hesitate from asking for the money worth for their time, design, creativity as they should!
7. What would you love to be doing in a year?
My goal this year is to get a full-time job, get experience, build connections in this tech field. I have decided to live in Canada and further pursue my career. Therefore, I'll work towards getting my permanent residency as well. I would love to grow and develop my skills into some meaningful design.
